She looks, physically, to be in her mid-twenties. SPECIES: Halfbreed; the family have always believed they are descendants of an Angelic line. CAREER: Hunter. CURRENT RESIDENCE: Alix lives in a crummy little apartment that only has two rooms, one of which is the bathroom, and that doesn’t even have a bath, instead only a shower stall, sink and toilet. Her bedroom, lounge, kitchen and dining room are all mashed together; you can see her bed when you walk in the front door, and she can walk from one end to the other in a matter of strides. It’s kind of sad, really, but at least it’s cheap. MARITAL STATUS: Single. SEXUALITY: Heterosexual. ETHER: Yes. She’s like a crackle of electricity, sharp and sudden, like a static shock from a railing against unprotected skin. Her presence is bold and ballsy, no hesitation or timidity. It carries with it the cool sense of steel, strong and metallic, and it is usually edged just faintly with her usual bite of sarcasm. supernatural [top.] ABILITIES PSIONIC ENERGY. Alix’s abilities lie in the generation and subsequent manipulation of what she has come to call psionic energy, which, when manifested, is a blue-white in colour, not unlike a bolt of lightning. It is mentally created and therefore entirely dependant on her mental strength at any one time, something that she usually has in spades, on a good day. The limits of her psionics are still being tested, even by Alix herself, but so far she has discovered a number of useful tricks and applications. SKILLS: Though they might not all be useful, Alix has a variety of skills that she has amassed over the years thanks to experience and the odd lesson here and there. One thing that cannot be doubted is her ability to hold her alcohol; it takes her longer than it should to get properly drunk, and even then, she manages to keep a firm hold on her faculties much longer than most humans have any right to. She can hotwire cars and trucks, something that has come in handy over the years; she can also drive said vehicles, and can ride a motorcycle, something she is actually very fond of doing. She can make a meal out of just about anything; whether or not anyone outside of her finds said meal edible is another matter, but she can rummage through a near-empty refrigerator and concoct something out of the dregs that, somehow, her stomach manages to keep down nine times out of ten. As an offshoot of being a hunter, one who has seen her fair share of violence and gore, Alix is especially strong-stomached and iron-willed; it takes a long to nauseate or sicken her, and it is near impossible to shock or repulse her. LIMITATIONS: Other than her undeniable mortality, the female hunter has a number of weaknesses and limitations that could trip her up at any time. Alix has a hot temper, and not the best control over it. She’s very set in her ways, and despite the fact that she can and will take orders, if she disagrees with something then she makes her feelings known; if she has an idea, she’ll tell you what it is, even if she knows you won’t like it. So many things rile her, and her buttons can be pushed far too easily, making her something of a loose cannon. Alix smokes and is very fond of the vice, which could obviously one day lead to her developing cancer of one form or another, something she is well aware of but in no rush to combat. She drinks more than she should, though she is far from being addicted and would be the first to tell you as much. She is very much geared towards close-combat despite her psionic ability and her ability to fire guns and bows, in fact she’s almost obsessed with getting up close and dirty, which is far from safe in the world of hunters, especially given the menagerie of supernaturals out there and their abilities. She is stubborn as a mule and hates being told no, and absolutely refuses to back down first, no matter the challenger; she simply cannot back down from a challenge, or say no to one, for that matter. Generally she is an all round pain in the ass, knows it, and does absolutely nothing to put a stop to it. WEAPONRY TRAINING: Alix’s talent lies in bladed weaponry, despite the fact that she can and will use a gun if the situation calls for it (hell, if she’s really pushed, she can fire a bow); she was trained with them from a young age, and she has a passion for them, in a variety of shapes and sizes, whether they be daggers or swords, even axes. She has a rather varied and eclectic collection that used to be much, much bigger, but she sacrificed a good deal of it when she was forced to choose between material possessions (no matter how useful in a fight) and her own life. The choice was easy. Outside of her expertise with blades, Alix is a more than capable hand-to-hand fighter, and can certainly hold her own despite her size. GROUP: The Watch. POSITION: Hunter/Fighter. OPINION: Alix has always been a part of the Watch and therefore couldn’t imagine her life without them; to her, they are the only thing that makes sense in the world, and so it’s entirely possible she couldn’t really function without the stability and familiarity they bring. ALLIANCES: The Watch. RIVALRIES: Anything Dark or Evil. The Raidan. The Elari. appearance [top.] Alix is an athletic woman with toned muscles and lean, strong limbs that are just as well suited to aiding her in a fight as they are in carrying her away from one; she’s fast and spry, and it shows that she takes care of herself, and not only that, prides herself on her physical fitness. She stands at a respectable 5’7 and weighs in at a trim but healthy 123lbs., give or take. Her blonde hair is usually kept short, no longer than her shoulders, which is usually when she takes a knife to it, literally. When it isn’t swinging loose, it is pulled back in a swift, somewhat messy but undeniably practical ponytail; she never makes any more fuss than that. Her eyes are green with the tendency to appear darker depending on the light, but up close there is no mistaking the colour. In terms of her wardrobe, Alix is just as no-nonsense as she is in most other areas of her life; she wears whatever will suit day to day life and support free movement in a fight without any loose or baggy excess material that could get snagged or otherwise caught in combat. She’s very much a tomboy in her style, much more comfortable in combat pants and a tank top and over shirt than she ever would be in anything even remotely feminine. Alix wouldn’t be caught dead in a skirt or dress, and you can forget about high heels and makeup; there is very little about Alix that is girly, despite the fact that she is very much a woman with the feminine figure to support that fact; she has curves and is what some men would call attractive, but she doesn’t care. She’s a hunter, and all that matters in her line of work is getting the job done. She doesn’t have time to look pretty or flirt. Instead, she’s always ready to go, and presents herself as a practical, prepared hunter. DISTINGUISHING MARKS: Considering she was raised as a hunter and has been living the life for well over a decade now, Alix has her fair share of battle scars, and carries them proudly. Each one has a story behind it, and she knows them all by heart; point to a scar and she’ll tell you the tale. She isn’t ashamed of a single imperfection on her skin, no matter how it was caused. She also sports several tattoos; she has the Chinese symbols for “courage” on the back of her neck, a cross on the back of her left shoulder, the Latin for “loyalty” on the inside of her right arm, and a big black wing on her left bicep, which touches the curve of her shoulder and the bend of her elbow, respectively. personality [top.] Alix is a young woman who generally fits the description “appearances can be deceiving”. though she may, on the outside, appear to be an unassuming even somewhat demure human woman, she is in fact anything but. Alix is best described as an unpredictable spitfire, prone to temper tantrums and outbursts of vulgarity and violence. She is a strong-willed, overconfident woman who generally knows exactly what she wants, has her goals in mind at all times, and then does whatever it takes to suceed. Alix is very sure of herself, too sure even, and that level of arrogance that she carries has caused more than its fair share of close calls. That cockiness is tempered by her unwavering loyalty to the hunters’ cause, and therefore the Watch; she believes in the Watch with all her heart and soul, and would not only fight fiercely for it, but die for it, without hesitation. She tends to have an automatic degree of respect for fellow hunters when she first meets them, but beyond that, she tends to wait to be impressed; she grew up as a hunter, surrounded by hunters, and she has seen all shapes and sizes, all ages and creeds. It takes more than a loaded gun and a cocky smirk to win her over. Brett Harper is the one person in the world she respects and admires absolutely; the older woman is more like a sister than a friend, and simply put, there is nothing she wouldn’t do for Brett, no matter the cost. Alix will always fight hardest and longest for Brett, without doubt or question, and she tends to follow her lead before anyone else’s, regardless of who is actually in charge at any one time. It isn’t that Alix has any particular problem with authority -- most of the time -- exactly, just that, in her mind, a title doesn’t automatically give anyone the right to be calling the shots. She follows sound, tactical leadership, and when in doubt, tends to follow her gut more than anything. Alix works hard, being practically addicted to her job, but she also plays hard. She knows just how to unwind, and has her fair share of vices to help her do so. She’s been drinking alcohol from a relatively young age and enjoys a good smoke now and then, especially after a kill. On top of these, she also loves loud music and busy clubs, and if there’s a chance of a good brawl, then even better. When it comes to sex, Alix is never in it for any long-term gain, though she has had some ‘arrangements’ with male hunters in the past. To her, it’s another satisfying way to unwind, a means to an end; she wouldn’t know what to do with herself in a relationship and as such has never even tried to make one work. Short flings and one night stands are more her style, and the more exciting the man, the better; if you’re in any way full or quiet or plain, she simply doesn’t want to know. Despite being a hunter, Alix actually has no major problem with supernaturals, at least as a concept. In her experience, a good deal of supernaturals simply abuse their abilities and tend not to care who gets hurt, and these are the creatures she’s out to stop. While she won’t hesitate to take down any that get in her way, she isn’t -- surprisingly enough, given her tendencies -- trigger-happy at all. She has had some good experiences with supernaturals in the past, and has actually slept with a few therianthropes in her time. She works on a case by case basis rather than tarring them all with the same brush. She knows better than that by now. history [top.] FAMILY FATHER: Eli Janson. MOTHER: Faith Janson née Bennett. SIBLING(S): Blake Janson (older brother). Cody Janson (younger brother). Several years before Alix was born, her family encountered the Harpers. For generations, the Jansons had been hunting supernaturals, wiping out those who committed evil acts and singling out those who were innocent and ensuring they kept up those good habits before they packed up and moved along again. They settled down for a time when they met the Harper family, a fellow hunter group, and proceeded to move when they did. The two families became intertwined in that fashion, working and living together, sharing time and accommodations along with supplies and stories. A year after the Harper family welcomed a new baby girl, Brett, into the fold, Alix came along. The two, naturally, with only one year separating them, were understandably close. In fact, they were more or less inseparable. For several years they were normal kids, running around and playing and causing grief for their respective parents, getting into mischief. They weren’t your typical girly girls, but they were children and did all the normal stuff kids are supposed to do. When they were old enough, they started learning all about the hunting side of life. Alix was fascinated, immediately addicted, always wanting to know more and do more despite being so young. She got so involved in her training that her family -- or the Harpers -- often had to pull her back and away and tell her, outright, to stop. There was such a thing as over-training, they told her. Life continued in that vein for several years, the training worked in around all the normal stuff such as schooling and chores. Aside from the tracking and killing side, it was actually fairly mundane. Perhaps a little too mundane for Alix, who always wanted more; more adventure, more adrenaline highs, more thrills, more triumph. At the age of sixteen, Brett being seventeen, the two girls decided they were old enough to go hunting by themselves without the protection of their older siblings or their parents. They were cocky, too sure of themselves, and it backfired horribly. Their overconfidence saw them getting cornered and ultimately captured by a demon who ended up keeping them trapped for several days before the girls managed to recover and pull themselves together enough to make an escape attempt. Alix was angry more than anything; the demon had shown them up, tripped up their plans to prove themselves to their families, and she would be damned if she would sit and wait like a good damsel in distress. The families had noticed their absence of course, there was no way to miss it. Without Alix and Brett around making mischief, it was a little too quiet on the home front. It was only a matter of time before they would show up, guns blazing, to get their girls back. In the end, it was a sort of semi-rescue, coinciding with Alix and Brett’s half-escape. Ultimately everyone was just glad that the girls were still alive, though it stayed with them, obviously; any time they slipped up, it would be a quick warning or a reminder. Alix, for her part, learned a lesson, yes, but not quite what her parents had been hoping for. She vowed from that moment on never to get caught “with her pants down” again and only started to train longer and harder, determined to make sure she couldn’t be tripped up like that again. For years, it was life as normal, the families moving around and hunting, and Alix and Brett continued to make mischief and have their lucky escapes. The only thing that changed was the amount of alcohol they consumed; Alix was so enthusiastic when her parents finally started letting her drink alcohol without limiting her intake that she managed to drink herself into a miniature coma and slept through two whole days before she woke up with the “worst hangover in history”. That hasn’t stopped her from drinking, of course, in fact it only seemed to boost her tolerance and like the incident with the demon, she refuses to let one bad experience tarnish her reputation. Life was as close to perfect as it could be until two years ago when a horrible accident saw Brett’s oldest brother, Samuel, becoming a vampire, a ruthless killer, the very thing the families were trying to destroy. Chaos reigned and blood was spilled and both the Jansons and the Harpers felt the losses of those who fell in the fighting before as violently and abruptly as it all started, everything suddenly ended. At the end of it all, when the families were licking their wounds and picking up the pieces, Samuel was simply gone and the life the Jansons and the Harpers had been living for so many years seemed so confused once the dust had settled. The families split up after that, breaking into smaller groups and seeming to scatter to the winds. Alix and Brett were no exception. Following the destruction that Samuel left in his wake, the two formed their own little partnership. The powers that they had developed in their earlier lives helped them to become a formidable hunting pair, able to pack much more of a punch than most female hunters, and they were proud of that. The last two years have been spent travelling around the country, going from one faction of the Watch to the next, doing their part, having their own brand of fun, and then moving on again. Their travels and exploits have finally brought them to Las Vegas, a city known for its darkness and sin, and personally, Alix cannot wait to jump into the fray. extra [top.] ● Keeps a battered old notebook where she details her kills, like a score sheet, if you will. ● Smokes when she can get her hands on the good stuff; cigars and More cigarettes, usually. ● Dislikes her middle name, knowing that her mother only gave it to her to try and balance against her first name. ● Is actually very particular about who touches or toys with her hair. soundtrack [top.] ♪ Rage Against the Machine; Guerrilla Radio (character theme). ♪ Maroon 5; Harder to Breathe. ♪ Poe; Walk the Walk. ♪ Pink; Bad Influence. ♪ The Black Eyed Peas; Boom Boom Pow. ♪ Hardknox; Attitude. ♪ Does It Offend You, Yeah?; We Are Rockstars. ♪ Groove Addicts; Insurrection. ♪ Guster; Satellite. ♪ Groove Addicts; Rolling Thunder. scenes [top.] chapter two.
